Delicious and flavorful Puerto Rican Carne Guisada or beef stewed made using an Instant Pot.

You need to try Carne Guisada or Puerto Rican Beef Stew, and if you think you are going to mess this up, then may I suggest this Instant Pot recipe?

I love Carne Guisada, and I was so afraid to try it using a pressure cooker. I made this Puerto Rican beef stew with my slow cooker, but after purchasing an Instant Pot back in 2016, everything has changed.

Now hear me!

If you love to try Puerto Rican recipes, then may I suggest purchasing a Crock-Pot Express Crock Programmable Multi-Cooker or an  Instant Pot (IP)?

Having these two things will change the way you cook and for the better!

For this simple carne guisada recipe, it’s very simple and you can add potatoes and olives; but we left those out because my husband doesn’t enjoy olives and I didn’t have any potatoes left. I know, how terrible for me!

Now for what you are going to need for this simple to make Puerto Rican beef stew.

What are the ingredients to make Carne Guisada?

To make Puerto Rican carne guisada you are going to need:

  • 1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
  • 2 Tablespoon of Sofrito and you can find the recipe here or purchase it!
  • 1 lb. of beef cubes
  • Salt and pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of ground Cumin – or to taste
  • 8 oz. Can of Tomato Sause
  • 1 packet of Sazon
  • 1 to 1.5 cups of Beef Broth
  • 1 – 14 oz. of Roasted diced tomatoes
  • 2 Tablespoon of Red wine vinegar
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon of Knorr® Bouillon Chicken Bouillon or any other

How to make Instant Pot Carne Guisada

Now for the cooking directions.

You can either brown the meat on the stovetop or use the Saute feature in your Instant Pot or Pot Express.

You are going to add olive oil and meat, brown the meat, and add salt and pepper to taste.

After that, add sofrito, tomato sauce, sazon, cumin, and cook for about 5 minutes.

Add the broth, vinegar, bay leaves, and chicken bouillon.

Stir!

Press meat and set it for 35 minutes.

Let the pot release naturally.

Serve with this perfect Instant Pot rice recipe!

Now here are some notes about this recipe. You can add potatoes, carrots, or anything else your heart desires to this recipe.

I love my meat to be super tender and like to have more liquid, so I add about another cup of liquid and set it to 45 minutes.

Every IP seems to work differently, and you know your IP, so try it!
