  • 16 ounce ham, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 quart (4 cups) chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups milk – you can use heavy cream
  • ½ cup sour cream

Instructions

1. In a large slow cooker, add potatoes, onions, carrots, celery, and ham. Season with salt and pepper and pour in the chicken broth.
2. Cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or high for 5 to 6 hours.
3. Once the vegetables are tender, mash roughly 1/3 of the potatoes.
4. Stir in the remaining ingredients and cook on high for an additional 15 minutes or until the soup thickens.
5. Serve with crusty French bread.
