Avocado or aguacate, how we say it here, is one of our favorite fruits ever.

You see, I grew up in Puerto Rico, and on our property there were avocado trees growing, and avocado season meant avocado recipes.

Once we moved from the island to Pennsylvania, we didn’t get to enjoy much of this delicious fruit. Fast forward to now, and I will tell you that my family loves avocados the same way I did when growing up in Puerto Rico.

Avocados are now more available and easier to find, and their benefits are something to talk about.

But before you go and ask if avocados are a fruit, the answer is yes; Avocados are fruit.

For many years I personally thought that avocados were underrated, and once you find out how full of nutrients and how good they are, you are going to become a fan just like we are.

Avocados contain nearly 20 nutrients including vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, and phytonutrients.

Some of these vitamins are:

  • Iron
  • Folic Acid
  • Magnesium
  • Potassium – more than bananas!
  • Niacin (Vitamin B3)
  • Vitamin E
  • And much more!

As a mom, that brings me joy since these vitamins are good for my toddler and baby. Why buy foods that contains added sugar, salt, and other processed ingredients when you can find a better alternative with avocados?

Now if you have not tried giving avocados to your toddler or baby, I suggest you do as avocado has a rich and creamy consistency and a mild taste that your kids are going to love.

Thanks to the Hass Avocado, we were able to sample some delicious and easy recipes in one of our monthly family gatherings.

My friends, we had a blast; and I learned that avocado smoothie is the best thing ever. Heck, even my picky dad joined to sample and loved the peanut butter avocado wraps.

But more about that later!

First, let me just say that there are plenty of ways you can add avocado to recipes. You can use avocados for baked goods, desserts, soups, baby food, smoothies, and more!

Now for our avocado recipe sampling party.

Once my side of the family heard recetas de aguacates (Avocado recipes) they were there! The kids were excited to see the decorations, and they even helped to create a few of the recipes. Now, the recipes I created we never tried before, so this sampling gathering was a fun one.

The table was full of avocados and other fruits and veggies. My goal was to create recipes that the entire family would enjoy, including the kids.

Tortilla Crepe-Avocado with Apple And Peanut Butter were a surprising hit with our family, and my dad just loved them.  I made about 6 and served them buffet style so the kids and everyone else could read the directions on how to make it.

This Kid-Approved Chicken and Turkey Bacon Avocado Wraps were a hit with everyone. I served them buffet style so my family and friends could make them.

Again, this was another easy to make recipe that grown ups and kids enjoy.  You can use leftover chicken, or store-bought rotisserie chicken, to create this easy and fast recipe.

Don't forget the Italian dressing!

Now for the smoothie, and all I can say is that some of us in this party never tried smoothies with avocados. This was a surprising treat for us, and we had to make more!

This delicious recipe is called Avocado and Mango Kick-Starter Smoothie, and it's an excellent way to start your day.  It's very satisfying and it's a smoothie you can make in the mornings when you are on the go.
