Hey mamas what are you doing to take care of you? Let's find out!
I have to say as you get older, you get wiser; and each day that passes, I believe that it's true.
I am at a stage of my life where simple things, like family and friends, are really important to me. I am also at a stage where I am looking for things to do to take care of me.
Since leaving my stressful work life to become a stay at home mom, I have started some bad stay at home habits.
I have always made sure that everyone is taken care of, just like I did during my working life.
Putting everyone first because of some guilt because if I don't, I am some sort of a bad person, mom, and wife.
Something clicked months later after leaving my job. Something my friends asked over lunch changed everything for me.
“What are you doing to take care of you?”
That one question simply hit home and it changed the way I do things and view things.
It helped me become a better mom, wife, friend, and daughter.
In my role to be there for others, I didn't stop to think that I also needed to do for me as well.
The hardest part for me to accept was that it was OK to do for me as well. In fact, it was great to take some time to take care of me!
How can you make time to take of you?
I decided to follow some of these tips and incorporate them into my daily routine. I will be honest and say that it is hard at first when you are so used to doing for others and not yourself.
5 Things To Do To Take Care Of You
Wake up early
OK, I know not everyone is a morning person, I know I wasn't until my 30's; but waking up before everyone else can be great to utilize that time to enjoy some time alone to focus on your day while drinking a nice cup of tea; the peace will do you good.
Take a bath and enjoy the peace and quiet
Take the time to enjoy a nice bath with your favorite aromatherapy or bubble bath and candle. Take this time to relax and enjoy the peace.
Enjoy a low key exercise
Sometimes a nice walk or low key exercise will not only help your body but improve your mood.
Write in a journal
This might sound like high school, but I learned that when I write my dreams and goals, it makes them more real; it motivates me and it helps me to keep focused.
Enjoy an afternoon tea time
Take time to enjoy an afternoon tea alone, or with friends. This is something that I personally enjoy and I enjoy it alone or with family and friends.
No, I am not talking about a tea party or anything fancy, it's about enjoying a nice cup of your favorite tea alone or with friends and enjoying the moment.
During my afternoon tea when my son takes his nap, I get to relax and enjoy a cup or glass of Lipton Tea.
Lipton teas have come out with amazing teas that I love and so do my friends and family.
