  5. This was a big fat flop for me! My apples were large, not medium, but since the recipe stated extra apples were added I figured it’d be ok. Recipe doesn’t say anything about increased baking time for extra apples, and even after keeping this cake in the oven for an extra half hour, it’s still wet and sticky on top and overall just completely inedible. So disappointing!

    1. Sorry to hear this recipe didn’t work out for you. I don’t include increasing the time to bake because when we bake it we normally bake it for 55 minutes. Again, I’m sorry this recipe didn’t work out for you.

      1. I made this yesterday the recipe I had it said baking soda I see yours say baking powder , it still came out good , I think I made it cook to long I have electric stove it looked like it was over cooked I did it for 40 min. It was dark but it was still good .what does baking soda do compared to baking powder?

  6. I was looking for a simple, quick recipe to toss together and thought I would try this. I only had one apple – not huge but bigger than medium lol – so I decided to just make a half recipe. I can’t believe that something that is basically toss, stir and bake can come out so good! I just topped it with a bit of a caramel glaze (just used some caramel syrup to stir into the powdered sugar) and it was perfect! Next time I’ll make sure I have enough apples on hand to make a full batch. This is going to disappear fast! lol

    1. OMG, Jane! I didn’t think of topping it with caramel… oh so good! Thank you for sharing and I’m glad you loved it!

  8. I am excited to try this! I have a dozen or so honey crisp that need to be used up. I know you added more apples, did you double everything else too?

    1. Hi Trisha, I didn’t but my apples were smaller. I would recommend doubling the recipe in your case. I just love my cake with more apples!

  9. No where in this recipe does it say the temperature to bake it at. I’m standing in my kitchen with everything together and no clue as to what temperature to set my oven at : /

  10. Joyce,
Made this today..came out absolutely delicious!! Thank you so much…recipe was easy and holy cow soooooo…good!!

  11. Delicious cake! I don’t like using oil in cake so I substituted 1/2 cup of applesauce and two very ripe bananas. I had to bake about 10 minutes extra.

  12. I’ve made this recipe 3 times. Once I forgot the eggs and it came out almost with a cobbler like texture and eaten in 2 days. My 82 year old father says this is his favorite cake now.

  13. Please make your recipes so they can be printed without all the extra pictures. They use too much ink and the recipe is five pages long! I won’t go thru the hassle of cutting and pasting.

  14. I’m trying this recipe today. My husband has to be gluten free, so I am substituting gluten free pancake mix for the flour. Crossing my fingers that it works. Cooking now and smells delicious 😄
