What is Guasacaca

Pronounced as Wasakaka, this Guasacaca is a traditional sauce from Venezuela. It is trendy in that country and some countries around it with some differences in ingredients. It is also becoming popular around the globe, too.

The sauce is freshly made with avocado, cilantro, onion, garlic, vinegar, oil, and salt. Parsley and pepper are sometimes added, too. The flavor is so exquisite with all of these blended into a smooth sauce. You can also modify the ingredients depending on where and who made them. Well, as long as the main ingredient is avocado.

Great for anyone Vegan, vegetarian, or on a low-carb and gluten-free diet. Because of avocado, guasacaca offers good health benefits, including good fats. Plus more fiber from the herbs.

Generally, guasacaca is a sauce, but it can also be a condiment, a dip, or a spread. This is why it is a favorite because it is an all-around sauce.

Ways to Serve Guasacaca

As I mentioned above, Guasacaca can be served in many ways.

  • Dip for chips and crackers.
  • Dip for fried or grilled fish, chicken, steak, and other meats.
  • Sauce or dressing for green salads, potatoes, and other sliced vegetables and salads.
  • Toppings for crackers, plantains, bread, and plain cookies too. You can also add cheese here.
  • For burgers, tacos, and sandwiches
  • As a spread or substitute for mayonnaise.

What is the Difference between Guasacaca and Guacamole

These two are constantly being compared. Some people also think they are the same.

Although they are made with avocado, they are different from each other.

  • Guasacaca is creamier and smoother because it is blended with oil.
  • Because of the added vinegar, besides the lime, guasacaca is tangier and more flavorful than guacamole.
  • Most guasacaca have green bell pepper that adds strength to the flavor.
  • It has more cilantro that, makes the sauce herbier. Sometimes, this sauce is made with parsley, too.

Why is it Healthy?

Just by looking at the ingredients, you know it’s already healthy. Guasacaca can be vegan, vegetarian, low-carb, keto, and gluten-free.

Avocados are naturally high in good fats. It is also a good source of soluble and insoluble fiber and potassium. Thus, avocado keeps the heart healthy. You can also make it ahead if you use it at a party or potluck. You can store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Make sure to use a clean air-tight container or mason jar.

For the recipe for my Guasacaca, here are the ingredients:

  • 2 Avocados, sliced
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 Garlic clove, peeled
  • 1/2 cup cilantro
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 1 1/2 Tsp salt

You’ll need to wash the ingredients that are needed to wash. Then, have everything ready.

Place all the ingredients into the glass of a high-powered blender. Pulse until everything is creamy and well incorporated.

Serve in a bowl.
