What is chimichurri?

Chimichurri is a combination of fresh herbs, garlic, onion, acids, and oil that comes together to form a powerhouse of flavor.

It can be used as a topping or marinade for grilled meats. It is extremely popular in South American cooking.

Toss with grilled chicken and pasta for a flavorful pasta salad. You can drizzle it over eggs. You can even mix it with mayonnaise for a sandwich spread.

Is Salsa Verde the same as chimichurri?

No. Salsa verde is made with tomatillos and green chiles, whereas chimichurri is made with herbs.

What are the ingredients to make chimichurri?

To make this chimichurri you are going to need the following ingredients:

  • Parsley
  • Oregano
  • Garlic
  • Green onions
  • Wine vinegar
  • Lemon juice
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Optional: Chopped chili

How to make Chimichurri

Now that you have gathered your ingredients it is time to make chimichurri. All you have to do is follow the steps below:

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until combined. Adjust salt and pepper as needed.

Cover with plastic wrap and let it set for 30 minutes before serving it. You can then store the chimichurri in an airtight glass container for up to 3 months.

  • 2 Tbsp wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 Tbsp chopped chili

Instructions
