  4. After 5 minutes, open the air fryer carefully. Remove the tomatillos and place them in a small bowl. If your jalapeno has softened and browned a bit, go ahead and remove it from the air fryer as well.
  5. Leave the onion in the air fryer, but flip it over. Set the temperature back to 390F and the time to 3 minutes. Once the time is up, check the onion. It should be soft and slightly browned on the edges.

  6. Allow all the ingredients to cool down before proceeding. Once they have cooled, place them in a blender. Add a large pinch of salt and a handful of cilantro leaves on top.
  7. Don't forget to add any liquid that was released by the tomatillos while they were cooling down. Then, blend everything together until you achieve a smooth salsa texture.

How to Store Sala Verder:

This air-fried salsa verde can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. The flavors will intensify over time, so adjust the seasonings accordingly when serving leftovers. You can also freeze it for up to three months, but make sure to thaw it before using.

Can You Freeze Salsa Verde?

You can freeze salsa verde to extend its freshness and enjoy its vibrant flavors even out of season. When freezing salsa verde, pour it into airtight containers or heavy-duty freezer bags, leaving some space for expansion. It's best to use it within 3 months to maintain the best quality, although it will remain safe beyond that time.

Thaw the salsa overnight in the refrigerator before using. Do note, however, the texture may change slightly after freezing and thawing, with the salsa becoming a bit more watery. A quick stir or an additional spin in the blender can help restore its consistency. This method is perfect for making large batches and ensuring you always have some on hand to enhance your meals.
