Latest Family Tradition With Ellio’s

This summer has been a memorable one for sure. From welcoming our baby, to having emergency surgery, to keeping my kids busy during the summer; and add family gatherings, summers holidays and back to school, it’s been…busy, (which as you can imagine, is an understatement ☺). But through it all, we were able to come up with a fun family tradition that will continue to grow as our family grows.
You see, with everything going on in our lives, our family is important. Our extended family is important. Our friends are important. And even with the craziness of our summer, we were able to have our family and friends around. Family traditions don’t have to be old ones. They don’t have to be passed down from previous generations; you can always make them, and you can make them however you want.
This fun family game night became part of our gaming tradition last fall and during the summer, it continued to grow into something we do with our family. Family games bring out the best in all of us. Everyone can play, and food and laughter keep this new family game tradition going.
No matter how crazy my summer was, I looked forward to having a nice family game night; and now with fall, I can guarantee you that this tradition will continue. Why is family game night important to me?
Family game night is important because it brings my family closer and it creates fun memories that we will remember, always.
I’m sure you want to know what games we play during our family game nights, and I will tell you because you might love that some of the games we play are made up or are very simple. You see, the point of our family game night is for everyone to play and have fun. It can be anything from Bingo to auction to cards. When our little ones are with their grandparents, we play the game of Life with our teens.
Bingo and auction games are our entire family’s favorites. These games award prizes that the entire family, including my extended family, always looks forward to.
The gifts could be anything from silly prizes to gift cards. There is also a box we have were people drop things throughout the months to be donated for the games!! The point is that the players don’t know what the gifts are and the winner gets a gift that is a complete surprise.
When we play our family auction games, we use play money. With play money, each player gets a set amount of money, usually $20 or so, depending on how many items are being auctioned. (This teaches budgeting and smart money which I am all for!). After you bid all your money, you are out of the game.
There are no winners or losers; just everyone having fun!
During these family game nights, we enjoy food and laughter. One simple meal family game night is Ellio’s Pizza.
